TREAD  CAREFULLY  IN PORT ROYAL

A little background; the trade route between the Sword Coast and the Southlands have been nicknamed The Gold Line. Lord’s Alliance and agents of the Harpers have doubled down on their efforts to stomp out all pirate activity. However rumour whispers of one last pirate bastion, hidden far out at sea.

Port Royal

West Loch

Ruled by the Keelhaul Pirates, this grim settlement is trapped in the shadow of its crow infested jail tower.

Mid Loch

Ruled by the Blackhood Pirates, a slow murmuring chant can be heard across this mystic settlement.

East Loch

Ruled by the Bloodbeard Pirates, this rowdy settlement have a large fighting pit dug out at its very centre.

South Loch (Main Hub)

This lawless place promise danger and adventure in equal measure.

The busy harbour looks more like a shambles market.

Nearby you see a collapsed building, the ground scorched black. "Professor Harvester raved about lighting lamps without fire... Absolute lunatic."

The Wicker Goat

The Wicker Goat

A dusty and solemn two-story building. Oldest tavern in town. Owned by Barliman, a retired sailor.

Barliman's Quest

"I've been told my old crewmate Voldrum has been spotted as part of an Undead Ship, cursed to sail the Purple Isles for eternity. You seem strong, if you see him, please end his misery."

"A Loxodon. I'm told he still carry his old iron cane."

Captain Anne

A half-elf smuggler, sipping wine. Secretly nobility from Waterdeep, but a thrill seeker at heart.

First Mate Avery

A half-elf member of the Rat Pirates, eating pork loin. Nicknamed The Priest, due to a heavy book in which Avery record every deal he makes.

The Rat Captain

His secret ambition is to see all pirates behind bars. Cal Porter has embraced his crude nickname. Once a mere gunner in the Waterdeep Navy.

"Pirates take what they want, but the Rat Pirates are happy with the left-over scraps! How they can live with such a shameful reputation..."

The Empty Net

The Empty Net

A rickety structure, supported by tall spidery stilts jutting out of the water. Its notorious reputation and frequent bar fights have made it the number one tavern in Port Royal. Managed by Filtch, a heavy burn-scarred orc who receive cuts out of most dealings.

Filtch's Quest

"There's only one valuable thing growing on this island; Crocus flowers. They grow in Baboon Valley, which is why no one is picking them.

Jack's Quest

"Rumour speaks of a Ghost Ship, a vessel that have travelled very far because it's said to be of strange making. No one who've seen it has lived to tell the tale, but where does the rumour come from you might ask. I believe it's out there. If you see it, let me know, I'll take it down before it hurts anyone else."

Captain Low

A few-words deep gnome, smoking pipe, whose first name is Edward. His shady appearance hide the trustworthy and gentle smuggler that he is.

First Mate Mendoza

Best known as Senor Mendoza, this quick-footed hafling swordfighter is actually a Shadow Rouge who loved to gamble with dice. As First Mate of the Silverspoon Pirates, he act as Captain Jack's right hand.

The Snapping Line

An orderly establishment refurnished out of a decommissioned ship. Its owner Amelia Smollett has four stocky dockworkers hired to keep any troublemakers out. Her Sea Elf family are famous for their lobster dish.

Amelia's Quest

These new creatures are Merrows; a corrupted and extremely violent version of Merfolk.

Captain Bartholomew

Nicknamed Bartholomew the Joyous, due to his absolute lack of humour and greyish demeanour. A talented smuggler, when he wants to be.

Blacksmith Magdalena

Professor Onestone

Albert Onestone is a high elf from Waterdeep, where he famously invented flush toilets, crop chemicals, improved eye glasses, new sailor's medicine and more. Increasing demands to uphold a role in politics and not being able to refuse first class invitations, all led to Albert wanting to hide away. Even though he's famous and celebrated in Port Royal, it's nowhere near as taxing. Albert is now enjoying retirement with some light exploring around the nearby islands.

WELCOME

TO THE PURPLE ISLES

Purple Isles

Glimmerport

50 years ago there was a mining operation, funded by Waterdeep. For e brief time they filled ships with purple gemstones, giving the islands their name. It all ended with a mysterious mine collapse, trapping 100 souls. No gem was ever found after that. More about the new inhabitants of Glimmerport further down.

Newport

Quickly built as an extension of Glimmerport, and just as quickly abandoned. Pirates don't go there due to the confirmed presence of a vicious Night Hag (flavoured as a Sea Hag). 10 years ago a team of Wizards constructed a sort of observatory in the mountains there; it burned down shortly after and the team was never seen again. (Star Entity)

Fort Ruin

Built 50 years ago by Waterdeep to protect the mining operation in Glimmerport. Although abandoned and scavanged, some say a green light flicker from there at night. More about that further down.

Sirenport

"Despite being so far out at sea, in the middle of nowhere, none knows how long Sirenport has been around. Longer than Glimmerport or Port Royal, that's for certain. Pirates don't go there, because the few inhabitants still around give them the creeps. More about that further down.

Treasure Island

An ancient monster is known to dwell on this island, but none have seen it. It's said that pirate lords of old buried treasure there long ago. Folk have stepped ashore, but none have walked into that forest and returned.

Green Thorn Isle

Few venture that far. They say strange monuments stand along the beaches and upon the cliffs. Some say it's to ward off something. Others that it's keeping something locked in. A dock of hefty stone remain, a mysterious relic from some ancient time.

Shark's Teeth

A barren group of rocks. Not even animals live there. From that point it's open sea, straight to the world's end.

Dangers at sea

Dangers At Sea

Undead Ships

For hundreds of years the necrotic energy that surrounds the Purple Isles cause some wrecked ships to re-animate. Circling the nearby waters, these vessels attack any living ship they can find.

Juvenile Krakens

For hundreds of years The Kraken has bide its time; patiently plotting to devour as many fey creatures as possible. However its offspring are of less intelligence and do attack ships at leisure.

The Sky Titan

This gargantuan Roc has been here for hundreds of years. Pirates are wise enough to avoid it. Despite nesting on Green Thorn Isle, it hunts far away on the main land. However it's known to attack vessels whenever the hunt goes poorly.

Marrows

These creatures appeared among the Purple Isles quite recently, and their attacks are now common. Few guess that these are in fact the Merfolk population; corrupted and twisted. (Star Entity)

MYSTERY OF SIRENPORT

Wear strange clothes because they're trapped in the furture...

Sirenport

William

[Hexblade Warlock]

Gravedigger William Yorick roam near the docks, warning anyone who steps ashore. A man of few words.

"You should not be here."

Captain Marsh

[Phantom Rouge]

Obed Marsh used to command a small fleet of merchant ships in his prime. Now a mute with an awful stare. Mayor Fairmont's right hand man.

Mayor Fairmont

[Chronurgy Wizard]

"Welcome to our little island, I hope you stay a while. The scenery is absolutely out-worldly."

In debt with the Old Ones, heralds of The Doom. Won't engage in combat but will set up ambushes carried out by Chuuls and Cloakers.

Lady Hayes

[Trickery Cleric]

Lola grew up in Sirenport. Left and became a performer, but for no reason she suddenly returned. She has a ghostly demeanour, and if questioned she'll only say "This place... it pulls me back..."

Professor Adams

[Great Old One Warlock]

Wendy Adams studied in Waterdeep hundreds of years ago. She came to investigate water abnormalities, but her finds couldn't explain the necrotic energy. She's remained in Sirenport ever since.

"I fell in love with this island. The stillness."

Servants of the Occult

These five inhabitants are immortal, as long as Mayor Fairmont's debt remain. There used to be many more living in Sirenport, but they've all walked into the sea and turned into occult creatures; such as Chuuls and Cloakers.

Each of the five have a job to step into the sea to commune with the necrotic energies, all at different times of the day.

William - Dawn

Adams - Midday

Marsh - Dusk

Hayes - Early Night

Fairmont - Late Night

The Star Spawn Entity

10 years ago this entity arrived, drawn here by an observatory experiment gone wrong (wizards near Newport, see above). Being a different kind of servant to the same Heralds, this entity both commands and obeys the inhabitants of Sirenport. One thing is certain, things have escalated since its arrival.

Structures on Green Thorn Isle were once constructed to jail a creature of this power. However the entity is extremely intelligent and won't go near that place.

FORT RUIN AND GLIMMERPORT

Fort Ruin and Glimmerport

Professor Harvester

Nicholas Harvester is a drow from Waterdeep, where he experimented with primitive electricity, parachutes, submarines, and the mysterious entities we know as stars; claiming that the sun was in fact a star.

A rising star himself, young among older peers, Nicholas became vastly popular. Unlike Professor Onestone, Nicholas did not hate the fame; instead he found fame completely un-interesting.

Drawn on a mysterious voyage, Nicholas set off on his own. Mentions in old texts about a strange energy near a certain group of islands.

Again unlike Professor Onestone, Nicholas wasn't welcome in Port Royal.

Stargazers

This small group of travellers came to Glimmerport recently. Drawn by strange signs in the stars, their leader Madame Capella have decided to settle down here for the time being. Not powerful fighters, they instead rely on Shield Guardian constructs for protection.

Madame Capella

From an old dynasty of stargazing Drow, and Cheif Engineer. She is both intelligent and wise.

Aquilae and Altair

This Tiefling couple have been trained into Construct Engineers by Madame Capella.

His so called inventions being deemed unpractical and wasteful. When Nicholas tower exploded, from a bad experiment with electricity, the inhabitants of Port Royal decided that enough was enough and threw him out.

Now Professor Harvester has locked himself away at Fort Ruin, and only sets out when he feels the need to investigate certain parts of the islands. He feels like he's a hair away from cracking the mysteries of this place, and by doing so understanding the universe.

However his predictions are not positive.

"Our existence hangs by a thread!"

"A slight change in orbit and we all freeze to death."

"This planet is sailing through a storm of mountain-sized rocks, all hurtling at great speed."

"The universe is infinite... and the horrors lurking there are.... they will devour us all."

Doctor Hades

This elderly Deep Gnome is fifth generation servant of Madame Capella. Grumpy though he is, Doctor Hades feel extremely proud to help Madame Capella any way he can.

Captain Moon

Deneb had chosen every wrong path in life. He nearly drank himself to death when he crossed paths with Madame Capella, who took the dwarf under her wing; like a son. She gave him the name Moon, after his first month sober. Deneb had some knowledge of seafaring, naturally giving him the role as Captain.

Lyra and Betelgoose

This Furbolg couple sought Madame Capella for her knowledge of stargazing. Taking them in was more an act of kindness than anything else, Madame Caepall have not yet decided if they are mature enough for learning about the big mysteries.
